Katakhali Swapnopuron Welfare Society (KSWS) Started its journey in 2012 in the islands of Sunderbans to serve the underprivileged children through Education and Child Protection. The organization has established the only English medium school in the islands of Sunderbans following CBSE Curriculum along with multi-sectoral value addition inputs. More than 1000 children have received educational inputs and continuing their studies to date. The school was operational for up to Class IV till 2018-2019 academic sessions. In the 2019-20 academic sessions the organization has acquired land for setting up a permanent structure for the school with the addition of classes from V to VIII. The organization intends to scale up the school up to the Class – XII level in the next 5 years’ time. The growth in the number of students (presently 230 students) and involvement of the guardians has encouraged the organization to think beyond the current form of operation considering the development of the children and protecting them from different forms of abuse & exploitation. This school not only takes care of academics but also ensures that all children can grow with their full potential and excel in their lives. Through various activities, Swapnopuron enables a child to unleash their potentialities and recognize their abilities. The organization proposes to take this forward so that more children in these areas are inclined to take advantage of the multi-sectoral innovative teaching-learning inputs. As part of this initiative, the organization intends to create a unique model school in this area for other academic institutions to access technical knowledge and expertise from this institute. The organization is adding value to the existing curriculum by means of activity-based learning linked with daily life situations. This is an ongoing project, we need the sponsorship of children so that they can study.
